Pssst! Want to hear a secret? We’re taking it easy in 2021.

While we have mad respect for everyone who wants to hit the ground running, we learned some important lessons last year. It’s okay to slow down and take stock of your health and wellness. It’s okay to be selfish with your time and energy. And it’s definitely okay to enjoy little things that raise your vibrations. That’s why our resolutions look a little different this year.

Instead of giving your life a complete overhaul, why not make small, manageable changes that will have a big impact over time. Maybe for you that means drinking more water, adding an extra serving of vegetables to your diet, or (and this one’s our favorite) switching to clean skincare products.

Honestly, if you’re looking to make minimal changes with maximum impact, switching to clean skincare products is the perfect place to start. It’s better for your body, your mind, and for the planet! Read on and learn why clean skincare should be one of your 2021 resolutions.

What is Clean Skincare?

Clean skincare is our jam. For us, creating clean skincare products is how we express our love for our skin, our energy, and our planet. When we say our products are “clean,” it’s not just a trendy term--it’s a whole mood and way of life.

For us, clean skincare means focusing on sustainable and ethically sourced ingredients, environmentally friendly packaging, and benefits that are so much more than skin deep. It’s about constantly learning and growing to enhance our beauty practices and to promote clean skincare education.

If you’re still curious about how clean skincare products and practices can benefit YOU, keep reading…

Clean Skincare is Healthier For Your Body

The reason we say it’s healthier for your “body” instead of just your “skin,” is because your overall health can be influenced by what you put on your skin.

Your skin is pretty amazing. It shields you from the environment (toxins, pollutants, UV rays, etc.) and it decides what things get absorbed (moisture, vitamins, etc.). Like any other part of our bodies, however, our skin can become overwhelmed or weakened. When that happens, bad things can get through OR good things have a harder time being absorbed.

That’s why it’s so important to avoid skincare products with questionable ingredients. We’re talking about things like parabens, added sulfates, synthetic fragrances, or synthetic fillers. Here’s a short list of risks associated with these ingredients…

  • Hormone disruption
  • Endocrine disruption
  • Clogged pores
  • The release of formaldehyde (a known carcinogen) over time
  • Respiratory distress
  • Allergies

While you may not notice these issues the first few times you use a product, over time your body will absorb these ingredients. Compared to the European Union, which has banned the use of 1,328 chemicals in skincare products, the U.S. FDA has only banned 11. We don’t know about you, but that seems insane!

That’s why we strive to use certified organic ingredients at every opportunity, we opt for terpenes over synthetic aromas and perfumes, and you’ll never find PEGs, silicon, dyes, sulfates, parabens, or phthalates in our products. We know it can be hard to navigate skincare products when the FDA allows the use of so many questionable ingredients, so we’ve taken out all the guess work.

Clean Skincare Is Better For the Planet

We don’t know about you, but our favorite planet is EARTH. Yeah, Saturn literally has a ring on it and Jupiter has all those cool moons, but Earth just has an X factor that gives it instant celebrity status. Maybe it’s all that glorious oxygen or the fact that it’s full of cuties like you ;)

All joking aside, there’s only one planet Earth. That’s why using products that don’t harm the planet is so important. For us, clean skincare products are also ethically clean. That means ethically sourced ingredients using suppliers we know, trust, and that share our beliefs when it comes to protecting Mother Nature.

We think that also means never testing our products on animals. If your skincare products are designed to make you look and feel good, no part of them should promote cruel beauty practices. We love our furry friends, and we don’t want to create products that cause them harm.

Plus, that makes it a lot easier for skincare products to raise your overal vibes. Speaking of which...

Clean Skincare Can Help Boost Good Vibes

Self-care took on a whole new meaning last year. It’s not just about your physical health, it’s about your mental well being. You could be the picture of health...but if you’re not happy then what’s the point? That’s why taking stock of your energy is so important.

Einstein helped us understand that all matter is made up of energy and it’s constantly vibrating at different frequencies. In general, higher vibrational frequencies are associated with lighter feelings of happiness and serenity. On the other hand, lower vibrational frequencies are associated with heavy feelings like anxiety, depression, or anger.

So, when we say clean skincare helps boost “good vibes”, we’re talking about your overall vibrational energy! There are a lot of different factors that can influence your vibes, but mindfulness can help you consciously shift your energy from low to high frequencies. Sometimes it’s as simple as putting on your favorite song, having a good session with a mental health professional, or even just a self-care practice involving clean skincare.

Clean skincare is good for your vibrations for several reasons. The earlier items we talked about (how it’s good for your body and the planet) are definitely associated with high vibrational energy. Anything that hurts you or your environment will naturally lower your vibrations. But it’s more than just what ISN’T in your products.

High vibrational ingredients like terpenes, adaptogens, and different cannabinoids can help boost your mood, reduce stress, and promote mind/body balance. Buddha Wood, for example, has been used for hundreds of years for its medicinal and spiritual properties. In addition, the Aboriginal Peoples of Australia also used it in sacred ceremonies. Skincare products with this ingredient are particularly calming and are a great addition to meditation practices.

One of our favorite high vibrational ingredients is CBD (cannabidiol). It interacts with your ECS (endocannabinoid system) to promote balance throughout your body. That might mean less anxiety, inflammation, or a more balanced sleep cycle.

Use Clean Skincare in 2021 For Your Body, Mind, and the Planet

While the benefits of clean skincare sound pretty astounding, you don’t have to do much to start utilizing them. The next time you run out of an old product, replace it with a clean version. Then just go about your same skincare routine with new, clean products. It’s that easy!
