Even when everything is looking up, you can still feel down. Maybe you’ve noticed your self-esteem has been shaky lately, your energy feels sluggish, or you’re just not feeling like your best self. If that’s the case, it may be time to do some wellness housekeeping.
Honestly, even if you feel fabulous, you should still check-in with yourself. You work hard! You deserve to feel comfortable in your body and in your mind. That’s why we’ve put together our top 5 favorite ways to promote good vibes!
Just to be clear, this isn’t about following some strict checklist of items to magically fix all your problems. We hate to break it to you, but that doesn’t exist--bummer. However, there are things you can do to reconnect with yourself and tune in to your needs. Everyone’s needs are different, so it’s important to figure out what YOU need. So, keep reading for a few tips to promote good vibrations.
Why You Should Regularly Check-In With Yourself
We know it might sound funny, but it’s important to check-in with yourself on a regular basis. We live in a very hectic world, and it’s surprisingly easy for stress and fatigue to feel normal. And it’s no wonder! We’re constantly juggling a million responsibilities, and the fear of dropping the ball is REAL.
There’s also the possibility that everything in your life is going great...but something is still missing. One of the easiest coping mechanisms for stress and anxiety is telling yourself that everything will be fine after you get that job or finish that project. Unfortunately, that’s not always how it works.
Wellness isn’t dictated by the items we check off a to-do list. Whether it’s a feeling of stress and anxiety or stagnation and aimlessness, your mental, physical, and emotional states might need some TLC.
Our Top 5 Favorite Ways to Promote Good Vibes
Maybe today it still feels manageable, but over time, these issues can manifest in more negative ways (a weak immune system, mental health problems, poor nutrition, etc.). These kinds of bad vibes are incredibly toxic to your well-being. That’s why tuning into your vibrational energy is so important.
We’re definitely on the hype-train when it comes to vibrational energy, so if you want to understand why we’re so obsessed, click here. The short version, however, is that low-vibrations are associated with negative emotions, and high-vibrations are associated with positive ones. Basically, you definitely want more good high-vibrational energy in your life.
There may not be a one-size-fits-all answer, but there are different ways for you to tune in and connect with your needs. Everyone is different, and that’s a good thing! That’s why it’s time for you to check-in with yourself so you can promote more good vibes in your life.
As you read through the following items, remember to listen to yourself. Listen to your mind, your body, and your heart. This is all about figuring out what you need for more balance, happiness, and high-vibrational energy.
Be Intentional About Your Screen Time
If you find yourself scrolling through Instagram first thing in the morning or obsessively refreshing your Twitter feed, it may be time to set some boundaries.
Screen time is a part of our lives, so we recommend checking in with yourself about this at least once a month. That way you can catch yourself if you start slipping into bad habits. This is our most practical tip, but trust us when we say it will have a huge impact.
Start by detoxing your social media feeds. If the posts you regularly see make you feel bad about yourself, then get rid of them. You are phenomenal! If comparing yourself to someone else is bringing you down, then hit unfollow and don’t look back. Curate your feeds to show you things that make you smile or inspire you. If that’s not an option, then consider setting time limits for specific apps.
Also, be mindful about when you start and stop looking at social media. Try to wait until after you’ve started your morning routine to start scrolling, and try to avoid scrolling once you’re in bed for the night. This will make it easier to be mindful in the mornings and to fall asleep faster at night.
Reconnect With Your Body
Whether you spend all day at a desk or doing manual labor, you put your body through a lot. Don’t believe us? Try this…
Feel better? We don’t always realize how much tension we hold in our bodies. That’s why it’s so important to check-in and reconnect. The great part about this tip is that you can accomplish this in so many ways! Seriously, here are just a few ways you can tune in and reconnect with your physical body…
- Go for a walk or run
- Nourish your body with food
- Take a soothing bath or shower
- Use nourishing skincare
- Put on your favorite outfit
This isn’t about burning calories or looking a certain way, this is about expressing joy and gratitude for your body. It can be as active or calming as you like, just take some time to find joy and love the skin you’re in.
Do Something Creative
Those who are overwhelmed may find it challenging to devote time to tasks outside of their work. So, for them, this is about unplugging and finding a relaxing outlet. For anyone who might be feeling a bit aimless or lost, indulging in your creative side is the perfect way to get inspired. Not only will this help you be passionate about life, but it might also give you some ideas for future goals.
Just take some time and allow yourself to create something. Maybe you like to paint, design clothes, or even perform. Maybe your creativity isn’t traditional and you’d prefer to design a video game or create content for YouTube or IGTV. Whatever the case, give yourself permission to indulge your fantasies. Create something that fills you with fire and makes you excited about life!
Interact With Nature
If you’ve been with us for a while, you know we’re pretty passionate about nature. We don’t just love it for its skincare benefits though. The concept of Forest Bathing originated in Japan in the 80s, but really it’s been around for thousands of years. If you’ve ever felt less stressed after taking a relaxing walk through the park, you’ve already done it! Basically, it’s the practice of spending time in nature to soak up the natural terpenes in the surrounding plant life.
Terpenes are the compounds that give plants their natural scent and flavor, but they can also interact with us to promote different benefits. Some of them help you relax, promote energy, and some can actually boost your mood. So, not only is getting outside just good physical exercise, it’s good for your mental wellbeing as well.
If that’s just not an option for you, houseplants can also make a huge difference. Plus, having plants in your home promotes better air quality, improved productivity and focus, and helps lessen dry skin since they naturally add moisture to the air. Taking fifteen minutes every day to care for and water your plants is actually a phenomenal technique to promote mindfulness as well.
Let Your Voice Be Heard
This might be the hardest tip to complete, but it’s the one that has the biggest potential for positive change.
As you’re working through all the previous items we’ve mentioned, you might notice your thoughts keep coming back to certain things. Maybe you keep rehashing a conversation you and your partner had, maybe you can’t stop thinking about social justice issues, or maybe you’re still trying to come to terms with some kind of trauma.
Whatever it is, your mind is clearly trying to work some things out. Sometimes there’s nothing we can do to change a situation, but that doesn’t mean you don’t still deserve to express your feelings in some way. Other times, you absolutely should speak up and let your voice be heard. There is power in being vocal about your truth, and there are so many ways you can let your voice be heard.
- Sing loudly in the car or shower to express your emotions.
- Speak to a healthcare professional about unresolved traumas.
- Join an online community for support.
- Join a local group that advocates for social justice reform.
- Communicate clearly with friends, families, and partners about your feelings.
If you’re thinking that list seems kind of random, you’re not wrong. But that’s because everyone’s truth is different, and the truth can have a big impact on the world. It can be scary putting yourself in a vulnerable position, so if you need to start small that’s perfectly fine.
Once you’re able to express those feelings and let your voice be heard, however, you might end up changing the world for the better. We don’t know about you, but that definitely sounds like high-vibrational energy.
